With iPhone 3G causing all the rage these days, I figured other, more capable contenders are ought to be BLGGD about. Here's your upcoming super sexy touch screen qwerty slider from the recently troubled Sony Ericsson. I am definitely getting this when it's released sometime in the next few months (hopefully September). It runs on the new Windows Mobile 6.1 OS and touts its unique Panel User Interface. Here's a simple comparison chart between the XPERIA X1 and iPhone 3G. iPhone has some edges in some areas (UI, processor speed, and internal memory) but its really neck and neck as it lacks in the most basic functions. I've also heard some horrible things about the lack of a tactile keyboard (this is key!).

So, Australians are actually more talented than I thought. Sparro's self-titled debut album is an 80's inspired, pop infused collection of dance songs. Somehow when I heard his hit single 'Black and Gold', I knew there was no way a straight man could underlay his song with such gay beats. And I was right. I still think his sound manages to appeal to a lot of people. I can especially relate to '21st Century Life,' which is like an 80's anthem dedicated to the world we're living in now.

The Dark Night (2008) /Film
Predicted -100/10 (yes, that's a negative)

No I havn't seen it yet, and I probably wont. 'Batman Begins' was indescribably underwhelming with a lot of unjustifiable filler scenes (that training in the Asian prison... WTF?!). I don't imagine this installment to be any better. I can hardly stand Christian Bale, the mom abuser. And I hate pretentious Summer Blockbusters. This is also a comic based movie that's taking itself way too seriously. Really, I should direct the question back at you Nolan. Why so serious?

I want the cheesy Batman franchise back. :(

DISCO REVIVAL. Their music is not what you might expect from hearing those two words, but that's precisely what their sound is. Their self-titled debut album manages to be dirty yet classy at the same time. Antony, the lead vocalist from Antony and the Johnsons, carries such sultry sophistication in his voice. I imagined him to be some charismatic black man with green eyes, but it turns out he was just a fat lesbian...

Antony Hegarty... there was a legit reason why he didn't appear in the music videos

The oddball Australian dance duo got one of their songs an awesome remix. I didn't know the vocals were by Ladyhawke (not to be confused with the Canadian band Ladyhawk). I havn't checked her out because I thought she had a lame name, but maybe she isn't that bad.

Mozart and The Whale /film
Rating: 6/10

Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor, Lucky Number Slevin) and Radha Mitchell (Finding Neverland, Melinda and Melinda) play two austistic savants with asperger's syndrome... meaning they lack all sorts of social skills (this sounds a lot like the people that I go to school with. I think I'm actually "cool" at Columbia.) It's a fast paced dramedy that follows their on-and-off relationship. The poor editing made me wonder if I was the one with autism, but the plot isn't too shabby and it has some funny scenes. I recommend it only for those boring rainy nights in.

My friend who blogs about music told me she gets CDs for free. So I thought maybe if I blog about money I might get a thick wad of cash mailed to me... But maybe not. So I'll stick to writing about whatever that interests me at the time (usually music, movies, books, or gadgets).

However, you should be wary of my selection. People have been telling me my entire life that I have bad taste in music and movies. I'm not here to prove them wrong. I'm just here to share you those bad movies and music that I deem blogworthy.
